CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS

The University of South Wales Criminology department was looking for an interactive learning solution that would transform the way students engaged. They wanted a system that could support dynamic, scenario-based teaching while enabling lecturers to manage classroom activities efficiently. This included the ability to distribute content to multiple student workstations, monitor student progress in real time, and provide targeted guidance during lessons.

Collaboration was a key priority. The department required that students be able to work together seamlessly, share their findings, and present their insights to peers, fostering a more interactive and participatory learning environment. At the same time, they sought a solution that could bridge the gap between physical and digital learning, allowing tangible props to trigger associated digital content and evidence, thereby bringing investigative exercises to life.

Flexibility and customisation were also critical. Lecturers needed a system that allowed them to create, modify, and adapt lesson content to suit different teaching sessions, course objectives, and student groups. The department was looking for a platform that could grow with their curriculum, providing both immediate impact in the classroom and long-term adaptability for evolving teaching needs.

PROMULTIS SOLUTION
To meet the University of South Wales Criminology department’s requirements, Promultis supplied and installed eight interactive tables. This included one 86″ Promultis Uno 2 Elite table for staff control and seven 75″ Promultis Uno 2 Elite tables for students, all equipped with integrated RFID readers.

The 86″ table was configured as the staff control hub, allowing lecturers to manage classroom activity and distribute content to surrounding student tables. From this main table, staff could send messages to individual tables or the entire room, present content to specific groups, distribute digital evidence, set new investigative scenarios or tasks, and annotate content live during lessons. The system also allowed staff to monitor each student table individually, viewing a live stream of what was happening on their screens.

The seven 75″ student tables were designed to facilitate collaborative learning. Students could work together on investigations and coursework, present their findings to other tables, send messages between groups, annotate content, and use the integrated RFID readers to scan tagged physical props. When a tagged item was placed on the table, the associated digital evidence would automatically appear on screen, helping bring investigative scenarios to life.
PROMULTIS SOLUTION
Behind the scenes, a content management system (CMS) gave staff full control over all learning materials. Lecturers could create and edit scenario files, task content, and RFID-linked evidence, ensuring that lessons were fully customisable and easily adaptable for different teaching sessions.

By combining large-format multi-touch displays, RFID technology, and centralised control tools, Promultis delivered a powerful interactive teaching environment that enables immersive, scenario-based learning within University of South Wales.
